In the previous article, we did a bit of a comparison between God and the devil, God’s adversary. Today let’s look at some Bible verses that compare US and God: the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7, verses 9, 10, and 11.
Verse 9: “What man (father) is there of you, whom if his son (child) ask bread, will he give him (her) a stone? Verse 10 : Or if he (she) ask a fish, will he give him (her) a serpent? Verse 11 : If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father Who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?”
Notice in verse 11, the ‘you’ being referred to is US, and it says, we are evil. Why? “Because ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God”, according to the letter to the Romans, chapter 3, verse 23. Notice also, Matthew 7 : 11, says, “how much more shall your Father Who is in heaven … ” The father on earth is evil (sinner); the Father in heaven is perfect (LOVE [ God is love { First John 4 : 8 } ] ). Even the evil father on earth gives good gifts … the Father Who is in heaven, gives HOW MUCH MORE! ‘How much more’ what? Good things! Gives to whom? Them that ASK Him! Oh, you say you’re not receiving even good gifts, let alone HOW MUCH MORE good things? Why is that? You’re ( we’re ) not asking. Whose fault is that? Yours (ours)!
There’a a promise in the Bible, found in the letter from James, chapter 1, verse 17, that says, “Every good and every perfect gift is from above (heaven) and comes down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning.” An explanation of this entire verse would take another article, but I’m glad to know that God only gives good and perfect gifts … to them that ask Him! What is it YOU need? ASK (Him)! Don’t knock it till you try it.
