The Pleasures of the Season

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Autumn is traditionally a time to celebrate the bounty we enjoy, no matter how big or small our blessings. In November, there’s a day set aside specifically for us to remember those blessings – Thanksgiving. Most of us know the history of Thanksgiving Day. The following are just ‘ramblings’ of one person’s views about Thanksgiving:

Thanksgiving = thanks giving = giving thanks. Thanks for the memories. Thanks to those who have offered assistance in any way. Thanks for the kindnesses shown. Thanks for the friendships. Thanks to all armed service men and women, who are serving and protecting total strangers. Thanks to elected officials for answering the challenges of politics, regardless of your party’s positions. Thanks to employers for providing jobs and incomes. Thanks to employees for working the hours, days, weeks, months, and years to achieve your dreams and pay your bills. Thanks to doctors and nurses. Thanks to students and teachers. Thanks to moms and dads, sons and daughters. Thanks to you for reading this article. Thanks above, beyond, without limits, to God, Who has made it all possible. And, to those who say there is no God … well, give thanks anyway. Somebody will appreciate it.
